RNA and DNA QC
Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer
One-time registration process is required for all new GTC clients. No proxy submissions or proxy service requests are accepted. No services will be provided to non-registered users or when the billing info (account number) is not provided. Users might be asked to re-register upon the expiration of their NYULMC account number. Please register here (disregard if you have already done so).
Instructions for sample submission
The Bioanalyzer uses chips for up to 12 samples (RNANano scale and DNA1000 and DNA7500 chips), or up to 11 samples (RNAPico scale or DNA HS (high-sensitivity) chips).
For analysis, please provide at least 3 µl of DNA or RNA solution in 1.5 mL microcentrifuge tubes (not 0.5 or 0.2 mL tubes), labeled with consecutive sample numbers, date and your initials only - please keep detailed description in your own records.
Bring samples frozen or on ice, at these approximate concentrations:
1) RNA Nano 50-500 ng/µL
2) RNA Pico 200-5000 pg/µL
3) DNA1000/DNA7500 - 0.5-50 ng/µL
4) DNA HS - 5-500 pg/µL
Samples are typically processed within the same day for morning submissions and within 24 hrs for afternoon submissions, depending on the current backlog. The results are returned to users as a .pdf file by email
Typical examples of RNA nano versus pico scale:
Nano: cell culture, whole tissue, yields in micrograms/µL
Pico: LCM dissected samples, embryonic explants, 100s-1000s of cells.
